Toner Plastics Supports Western Massachusetts 3D-Printing Collaborative

  • On May 21, 2020

With the continued need for personal protective equipment (PPE), manufacturers and organizations producing 3D printing material have answered the call and have shifted to using their materials to make PPE. Toner Plastics is among the companies finding new solutions towards a safer and healthier world. Toner Plastics has supplied and produced elastic strapping and 3D filament used for making face masks and other medical components such as respirators, ventilators, and COVID-19 testing components.

Toner Plastics has joined the Western Massachusetts 3D-Printing Collaborative (WMPC) to help those on the frontlines fight COVID-19. WPMC coordinates with local companies that have access to 3D printers and printing production companies to assist in the design, production, and provisioning of medical supplies for Western Massachusetts.

Since mid-March 2020, the onset of COVID, the WPMC has printed more than 2,800 PPE pieces, primarily including Face Shield Frames and Ear Protectors. With the anticipated need of more equipment in the coming weeks as the state re-opens, WPMC is ready to ramp-up production to meet the demands.

In addition to PPE production, WPMC has been printing Frontline Hero figurine toys for the children of the Heroes, including farmers, medical personnel, and other essential workers.
